Yolanda Cooper-Sutton is a Memphis City Councilwoman representing Super District 8-3 and a longtime Memphis resident whose public service has centered on families, neighborhoods, youth, healthcare, libraries, and community improvement.
On the Memphis City Council, Cooper-Sutton serves in leadership roles connected to libraries, neighborhood improvement, public services, arts, and youth initiatives. Her work reflects a commitment to strengthening communities through practical service, civic engagement, and access to public resources.
Professionally, Cooper-Sutton has worked in community healthcare and is a certified Healthcare Advocate. She holds a University of Pennsylvania Professional Development Certificate in Health Care Innovation and received education from Riley Business College in Dothan, Alabama. She also serves as a Notary Public for the State of Tennessee.
Her community involvement includes work with Respect The Haven Community Development Corporation, the Westwood Neighborhood Association, Union Mission Homeless Shelter, the after-school program at Tillman Community Center, Junior League of Memphis, and Friends of the Memphis Public Library. She is also active in her faith community through Church of God in Christ – Messiah Fellowship.
As a candidate, Cooper-Sutton’s public-facing priorities are organized around strong families, a thriving economy, safe communities, better healthcare, youth opportunity, and food security/community care.
